With a combined eighty years of experience in the catering industry, Emma and John have worked alongside some of the world’s best restaurants, chefs, and hotels. The short breaks are not just informative; they are relaxed, fun yet still hands-on. It’s not just about cooking; it’s also about the techniques and tricks of the trade that make the process stress-free and enjoyable.
We will explore vibrant French markets, sample seasonal produce, and indulge in delicious local wines. A bit of sightseeing enhances the experience, offering a genuine taste of French culture and flavour. Each weekend is unique and mirrors the availability of seasonal French produce.

Gourmet weekends.
Experience three idyllic nights on our all-inclusive Gourmet Weekend, showcasing a flavour of our life in this beautiful part of France. Enjoy a stroll through a couple of France’s vibrant street markets, and find your own pace of relaxation.
If you wish to get involved in a little afternoon cooking or prefer to unwind on our beautiful terrace with a drink and a good book, the choice is yours.

Our long weekends promise hands-on cooking utilising amazing fresh, local & seasonal produce sourced directly from the market to the plate. Together, we will create delicious classic French dishes with a modern twist, while also sharing useful tips and tricks of the trade. After cooking, we will gather around the table to enjoy the fruits of our labour, share our thoughts, and enjoy some delightful local wines. Getting to us
Travelling from Bordeaux
Travelling from Bordeaux to our location is straightforward. The new tram system, which is situated just outside the Merignac airport terminal, provides a route to Bordeaux’s central train station. Additionally, there is a dedicated shuttle bus from the airport to Bordeaux train station, costing €10, that runs every 30 minutes.
From Bordeaux Saint Jean train station, you can catch a direct train on the Bergerac-Sarlat-la-Canéda line, arriving at Ste Foy la Grande in just one hour. We would be happy to pick you up from the station, which is only a 15-minute drive north of our location. If you intend to fly into Bordeaux, I suggest spending a couple of extra nights, either before or after your stay with us, in what is a beautiful city.
**Bergerac Flights** British Airways operates flights from London City Airport from May – September, with four flights per week and from London Stansted May – September on Saturday. Ryanair offers year-round flights to Bergerac from London Stansted and seasonal flights from Bristol, East Midlands, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Bournemouth, and London Stansted. Additionally, Jet2.com flies to Bergerac from Leeds Bradford.
**Bordeaux Flights** The following airlines provide flights to Bordeaux: Easyjet, Ryanair, Air France, British Airways.

**Nearest Train Station** The closest train station to major routes is Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, located 15 km away.

Extend your weekend
If you’re planning to extend your travel break, consider arriving in Bordeaux. This city offers a blend of rich history, stunning architecture, and a vibrant cultural scene, making it an excellent choice to start a long weekend getaway. For your stay, we recommend choosing a hotel near the opera house, as it provides easy access to the city’s lively atmosphere and elegant entertainment options. We often direct our guests to the Hand Picked Hotels site, where you can find over 20 excellent hotels in the centre of Bordeaux.

If you are flying into Bergerac, you’ll find the charming town just 6 km from Bergerac airport, making it ideal for a day or two of exploration before you join us. We highly recommend the Hotel de Bordeaux and Hotel de France, both excellent business hotels situated on the same street. These hotels offer clean accommodations, inviting pools, and a prime location near Old Town Bergerac’s restaurants, bars, and the beautiful River Dordogne.
Allergies & intolerences
We will be tasting and eating many different products that the area we live in is well known for. Clearly if you have an allergy to mushrooms do not book a course that involves mushrooms and truffles; Equally if you do not eat seafood there is no point attending our fish and shellfish course. Please inform us of all allergies before you book and pay any deposit. Itineraries cannot be changed with short notice.
