There is nothing better than a Summer in France. Our new Summer 5 night Cookery & lifestyle courses, a blend of cookery lessons, market visits, a touch of sightseeing, relaxing by the pool, a French night market, Wine tasting, great food, great wine and good company. The five days will leave you totally relaxed & wanting more of the Lot-et-Garonne lifestyle with its sunny climate, far reaching views, peacefulness andthe slower pace of life.
We will pick you up, on Friday afternoon, at Bergerac airport in the afternoon and after a short 30 minute trip we will arrive at our beautiful house Les Caulins. After settling in you can have a swim or just relax by the pool or on the shady terrace with a welcome glass of something.
We will meet up, on the terrace at 7pm for some canapés and a glass of local fizz. A four course dinner follows with matching wine from the vineyards that surround us.
On Sunday, after a Continental breakfast/ Croissants, house Jam, Tea, Coffee Juice, etc….We will visit the beautiful medieval town of Issigeac, which is one of the top ten prettiest markets in France. After buying some amazing local produce and a coffee in one of the many cafés we head off for Lunch at Soumensac. Soumensac’s Marchés des Producteurs is an unforgettable afternoon. On a beautiful hilltop, vendors sell and prepare regional specialties. You’ll find just about every kind of duck product, all kinds of barbecued meats, some of the fattest escargots, fresh salads made with seasonal vegetables, refreshing fruit desserts, crêpes, fresh bread and of course, plenty of regional wine. After a very long, lazy lunch we head back to the house to relax and finish the day with a light supper.
Monday after breakfast a quick visit to Duras and our local market and the producers from around our house. Back to Les Caulins and it is time to cook. Cookery lessons are very hands on and Emma teaches you some great dinner party dishes, professional techniques, tricks of the trade, starters, mains and desserts to wow you friends when you get back to the UK. For lunch we will make pissalardiere, the French version of Pizza. Early afternoon a little more preparation, an swim and the rest of the afternoon relaxing. Canapés and fizz on the terrace at 7pm followed by dinner that you have prepared that day.
Tuesday is another preparation day and we will show you more tricks and tips, some seafood Dishes for summer garden parties and some you can impress your friends with on the BBQ lovely marinades & salsas, refreshing summer salads. soft flat bread and crispy pork. We will also touch on fun drinks, cocktails & fizz. After lunch we visit a winery for a wine tasting. Back to the house and another 4 course dinner with matching local wine.
After breakfast on Wednesday we visit Maison Guinguet, one of Frances finest chocolate factories and their beautiful shop. A great place to buy gifts and treat yourself to some indulgent chocolate. For lunch a platter of local seasonal ingredients and fresh fruit. For Dinner we will visit Monsegur. Lots of different dishes to choose from, some music, dancing and of course local wine.
Thursday after breakfast and a final swim we visit the lovely Bastide town of Eymet. It is market day and a nice opportunity to buy some mementos and to have a coffee. Then it will be off to the airport for your departure.
